Day 19 – Tuesday, 16 April 2025
Last Week of Placement
Group Time
We started the day with group time. The children sang the ABC Alphabet Song loudly and with big smiles. It's great to see how they're learning their letters and sounds so effectively. We then did a listening game which was great fun. The children listened to animal sounds and attempted to guess which animal made the sound. They were really excited and engaged. This built their listening and thinking skills (Berk, 2013).
Easter Science Activity – Sink or Float
We then conducted an Easter experiment that was enjoyable. We had a big tub of water and some colored Easter eggs. The children were to predict whether each egg would float or sink. A few of the eggs were empty, while others were filled, so they got different results. The children were astonished and talked about why it was that way. This activity allowed them to learn science in a fun way and gave them a chance to work together and share ideas (Piaget, 1952).
Reflection
Today was full of learning, fun, and teamwork. The children showed great curiosity and confidence. I’m feeling happy and proud to see how much they’ve grown. I’m also feeling a bit emotional as my placement is coming to an end. It has been a very special journey.

Day 20 – Last Day of Placement – 17April 2025
Educators: Miss Aneesa, Miss Anusha & Mr. Prakash
Morning Time
Today was my final day, and we started the day with indoor and outdoor play. The children enjoyed their pick of a range of activities and adored their morning playtime. We then went indoors for morning tea, where we enjoyed fresh bananas and apples. Emily in particular loved the banana and asked for more.
Group Time
Following morning tea, the children gathered on the mat for group time. We sang our familiar morning songs, which the children participated in with great enthusiasm. Miss Anusha read one of us a storybook, and the children listened in awe. They began identifying the letters on the book, and so we broke out into the alphabet phonics song – everyone's favorite class favorite.
Main Activity – Easter Playdough Egg Fun
For the activity, I planned a fun Easter-themed playdough activity. We were seated at the table and talked about Easter and eggs. Using the brightly colored, soft playdough, the children had fun squishing, poking, rolling, and flattening the dough. I showed them how to roll the dough into egg shapes, and each child was provided with a plastic egg and a piece of dough to mold as they wished. This sensory play encouraged creativity and the development of fine motor skills as children engaged in Easter-themed.
What We Learned Today:
-
Fine motor skill development
-
Creative expression through sensory play
-
Language and letter recognition
-
Social interaction during group time
Reflection:
It was a joyful day full of learning, laughter, and lots of Easter fun! If I'm looking back on my overall placement at Mini Masterminds, I can genuinely express that I've learned a tremendous amount. I had the chance to closely observe the learning environment and gain hands-on experience in implementing EYLF, NQS policies, and procedures. I’ve learned the importance of teamwork and seen the benefits of building strong relationships with children, peers, and educators. This placement has significantly enhanced my understanding of early childhood education, and I’m grateful for the opportunities it provided.
