Day 9 – 13 March 2025
Mini Discoverers Room (Toddlers)
Today’s learning experiences offered well-rounded literacy, life skills, creative component mix, and helped children develop in all the domains.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar, a book reading.
Miss Anusha interacted with the children in a group reading session. And they forecast what the caterpillar would eat, kept track of fruits, and then rejoiced with the pupa becoming a butterfly. It supported language development, sequencing and numeracy within a meaningful context [EYLF V2.0, Outcome 5.2; Department of Education (2022)].
Folding Towels & Wiping Noses
Two practical self care tasks were be introduced by Miss Tingli. Noses were wiped with towels and tissues by children. On promoting independence, fine motor control, hygiene and hygiene practices, aligned with the development of self-help skills (EYLF Outcome 3.2 & 1.2; Beloglovsky & Daly, 2015).
Group Storytime
Various story groups with Miss Rae and Miss Amelia included children. Children listened, predicted, mimicked sounds and were engaged in stories like Snow White and books for animals to develop imagination, oral language development (EYLF Outcome 5.1 & 4.1).
Magnetic Block Play
Magnetic blocks were explored in order to build structures such as ice creams and cars, one at a time or in small groups. Spatial awareness, creativity and collaboration (EYLF Outcome 4.2 & 1.4) was supported by this hands on experience.
Reflection
All day long children were engaged, confident, and cooperative. Emerging literacy, social, and self-help skills were demonstrated by them through rich play based learning and they began to become more independent and express themselves.
Follow-up
The next session will feature a colour sorting activity, which will help in developing cognitive development, Classification skills, and colour recognition in a fresh, learning manner.




Day 10 – 14 March 2025
Mini Discoverers Room (Toddlers)
Today’s lessons consisted of active real life play, sensory figuring out, and personal cleanliness mindfulness, supporting youth advancement in all parts of their life through partaking in dynamic and suitable exercises.
Sports Session with Mr. Oliver
A high energy session of movement occurred with pool noodles, hoopla hoops and number mats with children. Activity that supported gross motor development, spatial awareness, coordination and early numeracy through movement and play (EYLF V2.0; Outcomes 3.2 & 4.1; Pica, 2010). Enthusiasm, persistence, and peer encouragement, along with physical skills and social confidence were built by children.
Sensory Play – Playdough Exploration
In the playdough activity, there was creativity and fine motor development. The shapes were made out of pink playdough, rollers and tools, using these to control and enhance the children’s muscles and imagination. Social communication and collaborative play (EYLF Outcomes 1.4, 4.3 & 5.1; Beloglovsky & Daly, 2015) was supported by sharing of tools and discussion of tool creations.
Hygiene Learning – Nail Cutting Activity
She continued our hygiene project with a task where we used gloves full of sand and coloured paper nails to trim some nails. Scissors were used children to trim the pretend nails to build fine motor coordination, hand strength and personal care awareness. Meaningful conversations about hygiene and nail care (EYLF Outcomes 3.2, 1.2 & 4.2; Department of Education, 2022) were engaged in).
Reflection
Today the activities I did included physical movement, creative expression, and awareness of hygiene. The children progressed in becoming increasingly independent and self confident about self help routines and navigating new tasks. Learning was scaffolded by educators who guided, modelled and encouraged.
Follow-up
Next week we will share a doctor role play and literacy based activity to extend our hygiene learning project work. It will help with vocabulary expansion, imaginative thinking and early literacy development by use of the purposeful play.
